Enjoy paddling a 9 or 15 mile section of the historic and serene South Fork Shenandoah River

9 Mile Overnight
4 miles of paddling the first day (1-3) hours, camp overnight at our partner South River Farm’s riverfront site, 5 miles of paddling the second day (1.5-3 hours depending on water leve)

15 Mile Overnight
10 miles of paddling the first day (5-7 hours), camp overnight at a riverfront/waterfront site if you select a yurt or riverview site if you bring a tent, then paddle 5 miles the second day (1.5-3 hours depending on water level)

Here’s How to Schedule Your Trip with One Stop Shopping –  and design a classic Shenandoah River overnight trip easily through our reservation system:

  1. Choose the date when you want to start your trip, then the time to depart from our HQ at 1847 N Royal Ave, Front Royal VA
  2. Choose how far you want to paddle (9 mile means you paddle 4 miles the first day and 5 the second. 15 mile means you paddle 10 miles the first day and 5 the second)
  3. Choose whether you want a primitive site to sleep in your own tent or tents (max 8 people per site), or select as many Yurts as you need (max 2 per yurt)
  4. Choose from several options of boats …..  and you’re all done!

We’ve selected this section of river for it’s beauty.  The river flows freely over rocks, riffles and pools and offers tons of opportunities to view large river birds, mammals and fish since the river is usually clear during the summer months. Your reserved riverfront campsite awaits you either 4 or 10 miles from your morning launch point depending on whether you’re on the 9 or 15 mile trip, respectively. You can choose between reserving campsites and setting your own tents up (that you’ve brought along with you in the boat), or reserving private and fully furnished Yurts. Campsites have an 8 person maximum so if you’re a large group you’ll need multiple sites. Yurts each hold up to two people and there are up to 10 Yurts available. Day two, relaunch your boat and float about five miles, back to Front Royal River Adventures where your car is parked. Unload and you’re free to stay for a bit and enjoy our grounds or head home if you’re tired. FRRA partners with South River Farm campsite to make this trip available to our guests, please plan on good behavior, thank you.
